How do you show up in local searches?

Local SEO makes a business visible in "near me" and "district plus service" searches. The site, the Google Business profile and reviews all work together.

Local SEO is the sum of the work that puts a business in front of people searching in its own area. Google weighs three things in local ranking. Relevance (how well your profile and site match the search), distance (how close you are to the person searching) and prominence (how well known the business is). Two of those three are directly in your hands.

Why the Google Business profile comes first

It is the door to the map results. A verified profile with the right categories, current photographs and accurate opening hours is the foundation of local search. The details on the profile and the details on your site (name, address format, phone) have to match exactly. Inconsistency costs you trust.

How does the website affect local ranking?

Google treats a business own site as one of the main sources of local prominence. Pages that name each service individually, pages that describe the areas you serve with original content, and a fast technical base are the real strength behind the profile. An unnamed service is a lost search. If your site never says "glass balcony", Google will not show you to someone searching for one.

How much do reviews matter?

They are among the strongest prominence signals there are. A steady stream of genuine reviews, and the replies the business writes to them, visibly move the position on the map. Buying reviews or generating fake ones is a shortcut that leaves lasting damage. We never recommend it.

The practical method is simple. Ask the satisfied customer you just delivered to for a few sentences about the experience, and reply briefly and respectfully to every review that comes in, positive or negative.

The bar depends on the district and the category, and it is learned by measuring rather than by industry lore. In August 2026 we measured Kemalpasa on Google Maps. In the signage category the top spots needed 35 to 39 reviews, in the web design category about 12. Two categories in the same district differ by nearly three times, and the number moves every month.

How do you measure the competition?

From the map, not from guesswork. Search for your own service from the centre of your district and look at who appears in the top three. Note three things about each. How many reviews they have, which primary category they chose, and how complete their profile looks.

Those three numbers set a realistic target. If the businesses above you sit between fifteen and forty reviews, reaching that band is achievable. If they have hundreds, matching that in the short term is not realistic and the plan has to be different.

Two numbers from our own measurement. A new site enters the index in 3 days to 2 weeks and settles for its brand name in 4 to 8 weeks. Verification of the Google Business profile runs on Google’s own timetable and is separate from both.

Why must your name, address and phone match everywhere?

Search engines judge whether a business is real partly by whether its details stay consistent across places. The name on the profile and the name on the site, the phone number on social accounts and the one on your printed material, all of it should be identical.

The detail that catches people out is formatting. A leading zero on a phone number, or an abbreviation in an address, can count as an inconsistency. The practical fix is to feed those details from one place, so changing a number updates every page at once.

How should you define your service area?

List the places you genuinely travel to and no more. Overstating the area does not help and can work against you, because a profile claiming a huge region looks weak in all of it. A business naming its own district and the surrounding neighbourhoods outranks one claiming an entire province on district-level searches.

There is a practical reason too. Anything you list, you have to serve. Enquiries from a place you cannot reach turn into cancellations, and cancellations turn into the kind of review that undoes the visibility you were building.

How long does local SEO take to work?

It depends on competition and on where you start. Think in months rather than weeks. Early movement can show up once the profile and the site are in order, but a position that holds settles over time, through steady reviews and content.

Is the Google Business profile enough on its own?

A profile can be opened without a site, but a site that matches the profile feeds the relevance and prominence signals Google looks at. Working together, they are noticeably stronger. A profile on its own usually falls behind competitors who have both.
